Bachelor To Air Another Male-Led Season Following Clayton In 2022

New rumors indicate that fans of The Bachelor franchise should get used to double seasons because there will reportedly be another season of The Bachelor that will air right after the next. Michelle Young’s Bachelorette contestant Clayton Echard will be the season 26 lead, but according to spoiler blogger Reality Steve, ABC is planning to film another season of The Bachelor directly after Clayton’s. There is already buzz spreading about who the second Bachelor will be in 2022, and fans are wondering if they’ll be overwhelmed with content.

The Bachelor franchise used to follow a very specific schedule—The Bachelor would air at the beginning of the year, followed by The Bachelorette a few months later, and Bachelor in Paradise right after. But the pandemic threw the entire schedule out of whack and ABC executives had to get creative. After Matt James’ season of The Bachelor, it was announced that there would be back-to-back seasons of The Bachelorette in 2021—first would be Katie Thurston and after Bachelor in Paradise, Michelle’s season would air.

Any fan who was hoping the franchise’s schedule would go back to normal with The Bachelor at the start of 2022 should prepare to be disappointed. Reality Steve recently tweeted that another season of The Bachelor is set to air right after Clayton’s season. The blogger claims that this second season will be filmed in February and is likely slatted to air in May, when The Bachelorette traditionally used to run. He added that this schedule is probably going to be “the new norm moving forward.” Clayton will be the first lead, and the network has yet to name a second lead.

It’s a surprising decision that sets a strange precedent, and it may not be well received by fans. Some have complained about feeling overwhelmed by the amount of content in Bachelor Nation recently and think it could be too much of a good thing. Fans used to get a hefty break from the franchise throughout the holidays, and even the most ardent of viewers can appreciate some time off from the show—absence does make the heart grow fonder. This new norm could become something that doesn’t go over well with fans of the franchise.

Choosing Clayton for the next lead of The Bachelor was a controversial decision, and the decision to have a second season of The Bachelor could be just as controversial. It won’t take long before more viewers start to feel overwhelmed by all the Bachelor Nation content they’re getting, and the show begins to feel more like a chore.
