If there’s one thing that 90 Day Fiancé fans can agree on, it’s that 90 Day: Foody Call is awful, and unfortunately franchise star Annie Suwan pretty much confirmed that another season of the Discovery+ spin-off is on the way. Though Annie and husband David Toborowsky were one of the more memorable couples to appear on Foody Call, that doesn’t mean viewers will be happy to see them return on the uncomfortable new show. There are many legitimate reasons why fans don’t like the spin-off, which makes it all the more surprising to see it return.
With the launch of Discovery+ earlier this year, there were additional 90 Day Fiancé spin-offs produced exclusively for the streaming service, including 90 Day: The Single Life and Foody Call. The latter was a cooking show with overtly sexual overtones featuring couples from the franchise. David and Annie appeared on one episode of Foody Call, where they made Fuk soup, Pla Pao, and jackfruit and sticky rice, and spoke at length about the details of their sex lives. Viewers didn’t take a shine to the spin-off the way the network would have liked, and many reported feeling uncomfortable with the combination of food and explicit discussions about sex.
A lot of fans were hoping that Foody Call would be a one-and-done series that TLC would pull the plug on. Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to be the case. Annie recently shared what looks like a behind-the-scenes photo from the next season of the unpopular 90 Day Fiancé spin-off. The franchise star has donned an apron and looks ready to cook in a kitchen surrounded by cameras and crew-members, and it’s safe to say she’s on the set of a show. Annie even included a Foody Call hashtag in the caption, so she’s clearly teasing season 2.
Annie also shared hashtags of other 90 Day Fiancé spin-offs unrelated to Foody Call, so it’s possible that what she is filming is a separate venture. However, the safest bet is that Foody Call is making a comeback—much to the chagrin of fans. While many viewers are interested in the sex lives of the franchise couples as well as the foods native to the cast members’ unique backgrounds, they don’t necessarily want to see those two topics combined. While the sexual content could work on a spin-off where cast members split a bottle of wine and chat, Foody Call feels cringeworthy because that explicit dialogue doesn’t pair well with food.
Not every 90 Day Fiancé spin-off is going to be a hit with fans, but Foody Call seemed to be exceptionally disliked by fans. Given the less-than-warm reception the new series got, it’s surprising that TLC would take a gamble on a second season. But Annie’s latest Instagram post is just about all the proof that fans need be sure that Foody Call will unfortunately be gracing their screens and grossing them out once more.
