New fan art has offered a theory on the newest Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer, which appeared to show Lizard receiving an invisible punch. With the release of the Spidey sequel now just weeks away, the anticipation for the upcoming instalment is nearing Avengers: Endgame levels. The road to the film's release has been riddled with rumors of a surprise appearance from Spider-Man movie alums Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, but these rumors have been vehemently denied by both Tom Holland and Garfield themselves.
The recent release of a second trailer only kicked the rumor mill into a higher gear, but it also appeased many fans who had been hoping to catch a glimpse of the villains that Holland's Peter Parker would be facing. The first trailer sent fans into a spin as it showed Alfred Molina's Doc Ock coming face-to-face with Holland, however the second Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer brought a whole host of returning Spider-Man villains to the party. In the final moments of the video, fans were treated to glimpses of Jamie Foxx's Electro, Thomas Haden Church's Sandman and Rhys Ifans' Lizard. What was more exciting however, was that a trailer released in Brazil had an extra few seconds to the scene, which appeared to show Lizard being hit by some kind of invisible force.
Now, one fan has offered their own theory as to what they believe is going down in the battle. Taking to Instagram, artist Dragonarte shared two alternative ideas of what invisible force could have hit Lizard in the trailer. The first joked that Spider-Man had simply knocked him out with his love, while the second panel showed a tiny Ant-Man kicking Lizard in the head, a move that Ant-Man has used a number of times throughout the MCU. The art quickly garnered a lot of likes, with many users finding them hilarious. Check out the post below.

Following the release of this trailer, many fans began theorising that the invisible force could be either Maguire or Garfield's Spider-Man who had perhaps been edited out of the trailer to preserve the film's secrets. The clip certainly does spark conversation as Holland's Spider-Man can be seen jumping towards the villains, but the trajectory of his leap does not appear to match up to that of Lizard's and so it certainly begs the question as to who the villain is lurching for. The artist's rendition of the scene is incredibly well done and is likely referencing some of the other wild theories that have been circulating on social media.
While it is unlikely that Paul Rudd's Ant-Man will offer Spider-Man the assist in his final battle, stranger things have happened in the MCU, so never say never. While it remains to be seen whether fans will see the three Peter Parkers unite in the final moments of the film, it certainly will be interesting to see how the scene unravels on the big screen and who or what it is that actually makes contact with Lizard. With the official release of Spider-Man: No Way Home now just around the corner, there isn't long to go until audiences have all of their questions answered.
