Loki & Thor Have An Emotional Reunion In Marvel Phase 4 Fan Art

New fan-art imagines Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and Thor's (Chris Hemsworth) emotional reunion in MCU Phase 4. Both Asgardian Princes are still active players in the franchise after the events of the Infinity Saga, but they're currently on very different paths. The God of Mischief currently exists outside of time, last seen in the halls of the Time Variance Authority, while the God of Thunder remains in the Sacred Timeline.

Since they debuted in 2011 in Kenneth Branagh's Thor, the brothers have appeared together in six Marvel Studios projects. Granted that they had a very complicated relationship, primarily due to how they were raised on Asgard, their arcs were intricately connected, often finding themselves fighting a common enemy or working towards the same goal. In later years, their sense of brotherhood had improved, but before they could fully reconnect, Loki met his end in Avengers: Infinity War. Unlike his previous deaths, this time, it was permanent — at least in the primary MCU timeline. Thanks to some time-traveling in Avengers: Endgame, a version of the God of Mischief close to the one MCU fans knew still exists in an alternate reality, with his adventures continuing in the Disney+ series Loki. Meanwhile, Thor, unaware of his brother's current whereabouts, has his own story going on in Taika Waititi's upcoming film Thor: Love and Thunder.

Despite this, some fans are holding out hope that their paths will cross again in the future, potentially in MCU Phase 4. Digital creator @keiidakamya visualizes how this potential reunion might pan out. Loki uses tech from the TVA to visit his brother circa the events of Endgame. Check out the emotional fan-art below:

There were rumors that Loki would be able to find his way back to the Sacred Timeline before the events of Thor: Love and Thunder, allowing him to be involved in the film. Waititi was previously asked about the possibility and his decision to decline not to comment on the matter was taken as an indication that it could very well be the case. However, Hiddleston eventually came out and flatly debunked the rumors. The events of Loki season 1, specifically its ending, back this up, as it doesn't seem like the God of Mischief's multiversal adventures will be ending anytime soon.

Marvel Studios developing Thor and Loki's respective arcs separately makes sense at this point. This way, the former villain is able to properly establish his own story as a hero outside of his brother's shadow. If they're reunited right away, the focus could be on their dynamic, rather than their individual journeys. Additionally, since it hasn't been that long since his death in Infinity War, seeing Loki back in the MCU Sacred Timeline could cheapen his rather emotional final death.
