Sister Wives: Times The Cast Got Dragged For Promoting Sketchy Stuff

The Sister Wives cast isn't known for making the most ethical decisions, and the group of polygamists has demonstrated that they have questionable morals with their sketchy product promotions. It's no secret that the Brown family has come upon difficult financial times and members of the unconventional clan have had to make money in some creative ways. For instance, Meri's undying commitment to LuLaRoe has been called out recently.

Although most of the Sister Wives cast members are consistent recipients of criticism from fans, Meri, Janelle, and Christine all have sizable followings on social media. The reality stars have decided to make the most of their hundreds of thousands of followers and sell products. Unfortunately, Meri, Janelle, and Christine don't seem to do background checks on their goods before promoting them to fans.

The Sister Wives fans don't just accept Meri, Janelle, and Christine's suspicious promotions, however. In the face of problematic brands and seemingly illegitimate products, the Brown family's followers are quick to shut the reality stars down. While the reality stars' drive to make more money for their larger-than-life family is admirable, the way Meri, Janelle, and Christine go about selling their produce isn't always warmly embraced by fans.

The most scandalous business venture of the Sister Wives cast is the family's collaboration with multi-level marketing company LuLaRoe. Meri, Christine, and Janelle have all sold LuLaRoe merchandise to their followers, but Meri appears to be the most ardent supporter of the brand. This is a sketchy business for the Brown family to get caught up in because LuLaRoe has been accused of being a pyramid scheme. The company was sued by the state of Washington for operating as a pyramid scheme and was recently the subject of a docuseries that aimed to expose the retailer's abuse. Regardless of the allegations made against LuLaRoe, Meri continues to promote the company on her Instagram.

In a recent post, Meri wrote that after five years at LuLaRoe, she "couldn't be happier" about her relationship with the company. Meri received many supportive comments, most of which were quick to dismiss the allegations made against LuLaRoe. However, some of Meri's followers dragged the sister wife for supporting a company that took advantage of its workers. One commenter wrote, "People lost their houses and life savings for promises not kept. Growing pains would have been them making it right and then onward and upward." 

Christine is one of the most popular Sister Wives cast members, primarily due to her tendency to steer clear of pot-stirring. Recently, however, Christine has found herself at the center of controversy more frequently due to her involvement in sketchy businesses. In addition to selling LuLaRoe clothes along with Meri, Christine also sells a mysterious pink drink that fans aren't sold on. On Instagram, Christine consistently posts pictures holding a pink drink that she declares delivers on a variety of fronts. According to Christine, her beverage keeps its drinkers sane, acts like an energy drink, diminishes cravings, reduces inflammation, fights fat, balances hormones, and tastes great. Of course, many of Christine's fans found this anonymous drink too good to be true, prompting the Sister Wives star to disable comments on posts promoting the pink beverage.

Like her fellow sister wives, Janelle is no stranger to promoting sketchy products to her followers. For one, Janelle has also participated in the alleged pyramid scheme of LuLaRoe along with Meri and Christine. In addition, Janelle frequently posts pictures with the same enigmatic pink drink that Christine shares as part of their wellness business, The Secret to Self Care. Janelle has also promoted FabFitFun boxes on her Instagram. Although this company isn't as criticized as heavily as LuLaRoe and their products aren't as dubious as the pink drink, Janelle's business with FabFitFun still elicited fan critique. Under Janelle's advertisement for the beauty box, one user commented, "I see why you are in debt!" Apparently, Sister Wives fans think it's problematic for the Brown family to promote overpriced products.
