Netflix: Best New TV Shows & Movies This Weekend (October 15)

This weekend, Netflix is bringing the second season of a TV series based on a children’s novel series, a psychological thriller movie, and season 3 of a psychological thriller TV series. As the entertainment industry continues to (slowly but surely) go back to normal amidst the coronavirus pandemic, streaming platforms haven’t lost any force. These continue to house movies that skipped a theatrical release, and in Netflix’s case, it also continues to add new licensed and original content every week, ensuring that subscribers of all ages always have something to watch.

Last weekend, Netflix welcomed season 8 of The Blacklist, the animated movie LOL Surprise: The Movie, and James Wan’s supernatural horror movie Insidious: Chapter 2, along with the final season of On My Block, the documentary series Bad Sport, the slasher movie There’s Someone Inside Your House, and Pokémon The Movie: Secrets of the Jungle. This weekend, Netflix will see the arrival of the heist comedy movie Going in Style, season 11 of Shameless (US), the documentary Rita Moreno: Just a Girl Who Decided to Go For It, the comedy-drama Smart People, and season 3 of In The Dark.

As for original content, Netflix will add the second season of a comedy-drama TV series based on a famous book series for children, a psychological thriller movie, and season 3 of Joe and Love’s unusual and terrifying love story. Here are the best movies and TV shows coming to Netflix this weekend - October 15.

Netflix's The Baby-Sitters Club is a comedy-drama TV series based on the children’s novel series of the same name by Ann M. Martin. It tells the story of five middle-schoolers – Kristy Thomas (Sophie Grace), Claudia Kishi (Momona Tamada), Stacey McGill (Shay Rudolph), Mary Anne Spier (Malia Baker), and Dawn Schafer (Kyndra Sánchez) – who start their own babysitting business in Stoneybrook, Connecticut. As demand for their club continues to grow, the girls have welcomed Mallory Pike (Vivian Watson) and Jessi Ramsey (Anais Lee) to their ranks. With the new school year comes booming business, new relationships, personal journeys, and important lessons, but through it, all the club is there for each other every step of the way.

Fever Dream (Distancia de Rescate) is a Netflix psychological thriller movie directed by Claudia Llosa and based on the novel of the same name by Samanta Schweblin. It’s the story of a woman named Amanda (María Valverde) who is vacationing in a sleepy Argentine village with her young daughter Nina (Guillermina Sorribes Liotta). Concerned with her daughter’s welfare, Amanda constantly calculates the “rescue distance” needed to protect her child, and she soon discovers that things around her are not as they seem, and a local boy named David (Emilio Vodanovich) interrogates Amanda as she struggles to make sense of her surroundings.

You season 3 is now available to stream on Netflix this weekend. You is a psychological thriller TV series based on the 2014 novel of the same name by Caroline Kepnes. You follows Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley), a bookstore manager and serial killer who falls in love with a customer and develops a toxic and extreme delusional obsession. Season 2 saw Joe moving from New York to Los Angeles and falling in love with local heiress Love Quinn (Victoria Pedretti), and season 3 will see the couple now married and raising their baby. Joe and Love have also moved to the Northern California enclave of Madre Linda, where they’re surrounded by privileged tech entrepreneurs, judgmental bloggers, and Insta-famous biohackers. Joe is now committed to his new role as a husband and dad but fears Love’s lethal impulsiveness – and then there’s his heart. Could the woman he’s been searching for all this time live right next door?
