The first season of Chucky, a television series continuation of the Child’s Play franchise that picks up after the events of Cult of Chucky (and doesn’t have any connection to the Child’s Play remake), has come and gone on Syfy and USA Network, and can now be found on the Peacock streaming service. But whether or not you’ve watched Chucky already, the promotional featurette called “The Legacy of Chucky”, which you can see in the embed above, is still pretty interesting because it takes a look back at the full franchise. Don Mancini, who has written every movie in the series (except for that remake) and created the TV show, comments on Chucky’s legacy in the featurette, along with cast members Jennifer Tilly, Devon Sawa, Fiona Dourif, Brad Dourif, and more.
Mancini developed Chucky with producer David Kirschner. Mancini and Kirschner executive produce Chucky with Harley Peyton, Alex Hedlund, and Nick Antosca. Mancini also directed the first episode. The show’s synopsis:
After a vintage Chucky doll turns up at a suburban yard sale, an idyllic American town is thrown into chaos as a series of horrifying murders begin to expose the town’s hypocrisies and secrets. Meanwhile, the arrival of enemies and allies from Chucky’s past threatens to expose the truth behind the killings, as well as the demon doll’s untold origins as a seemingly ordinary child who somehow became this notorious monster.
The cast of Chucky includes Zackary Arthur, Jennifer Tilly, Fiona Dourif, Devon Sawa, Alex Vincent, Christine Elise, Bjorgvin Arnarson, Jacob Breedon, Lexa Doig, Teo Briones, Alyvia Alyn Lind, Lind’s real-life mother Barbara Alyn Woods, and David Kohlsmith. And yes, Brad Dourif has again provided the voice of Chucky.
Chucky is getting a second season, which is a very good thing since the first one ended on quite a cliffhanger.
