Witcher 3 Fan Recreates The Game's Map In Incredibly Detailed Drawing

A skilled fan of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has recreated the game's expansive map in stunning detail, sharing their artwork to Reddit in a beautiful video. The Witcher 3 is one of the most beloved and best-selling RPGs of all time, making it the perfect choice for fanart, designs, and Witcher cosplay.

From developer CD Projekt Red, the map of The Witcher 3 is one of the most expansive and memorable in gaming. The release offers hundreds of hours of gameplay for dedicated quest-finders and treasure hunters thanks to its huge map that covers just part of the Continent, with vast areas ranging from Kaer Morhen to the Skellige Isles. Just following the main questline, players can expect to encounter over 50 quests spread across the map in the base game alone, with 100% completion typically taking close to 200 hours if fans want to see everything The Witcher 3 has to offer.

Redditor and artist HikiSWAG's incredible map art shows off the many details of the world of The Witcher, breathtakingly recreated with a line drawing. The map does differ slightly from the CDPR game, perhaps suggesting it's more akin to the Witcher novels and Netflix show, with additional areas and locations not explored in Wild Hunt. Despite some geographical differences, the game's stand-out locations can all be spotted with ease. The video, which has drawn lots of praise on Reddit, shows time-lapse clips spliced with the creator working on the piece, highlighting just how much work has gone into the stunning creation. Further pictures of the map can be found on the user's Instagram, aikisan.

While the artist didn't share how long their version of The Witcher map took to create, the artwork likely took almost as many hours as the game itself takes to beat. Multiple Reddit commenters on the post have expressed an interest in purchasing a print or digital art version of the map, which is something the creator has said they may consider in the future. Those hoping to purchase a version of the map can keep an eye on the artist's Instagram to find out if they'll ever go on sale.

The fan's Witcher 3 map has been created at a perfect time, as players are preparing for the launch of the Xbox Series X/S and PS5 upgrade for the game. While the original The Witcher 3 first released in 2015, the game has since seen a few rereleases such as the Nintendo Switch version, as well as the Game of the Year Edition, and fans have been patiently waiting for The Witcher 3's new-gen upgrade for some time now. CD Projekt Red has delayed the free upgrade until Q2 2022, but with 2021 coming to an end, there's just a few months more to wait.
