Tom Holland Talks About Being The Next James Bond A Lot, Says Co-Star

According to his Spider-Man co-star Jacob Batalon, Tom Holland talks about being the next James Bond a lot. Holland quickly became one of the most recognizable and sought-after stars in the world after his first turn as Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War. Now with two hugely successful standalone Spider-Man films under his belt, as well as a handful of smaller films, Holland is once more the center of pop culture attention as the premiere of Spider-Man: No Way Home grows closer.

No Way Home isn't the only big film Holland has ahead of him, however, with the video game adaptation Uncharted set to release next year. In the film, Holland will play adventurer and treasure hunter Nathan Drake alongside co-star Mark Wahlberg, who is set to play Victor "Sully" Sullivan. If the recent trailer is anything to go by, the film will see Holland lose the quirky teenager qualities of his Spider-Man movies and adopt a slightly more mature adult persona this time around.

In a new article from GQ, Ned actor Jacob Batalon hints that Holland's ambitions extend beyond just Spider-Man and Uncharted and that another big franchise may be in the star's sights. According to Batalon, Holland is often talking about being superspy James Bond. "He talks about being James Bond a lot. A lot a lot," said Batalon.

With Daniel Craig's run as Bond having come to a definitive end with No Time To Die, the future of Bond is very much up in the air at the moment. Although Craig was in his mid-30s when he first tackled Bond in Casino Royale, it's entirely possible that the next iteration of the character could be younger and more inexperienced. With Holland's worldwide appeal and likeability, it certainly seems within the realm of possibility that he could play Bond in the future (if he's being serious about wanting the role, of course).

Although audiences have seen Holland do more serious roles with the likes of The Devil All The Time and Cherry, he has yet to take on any roles that allow him to really turn up the class and the charm and flex those Bond muscles, so to speak. That said, the trailer for Uncharted does feature Holland in a suit for several sequences and, although he's sporting an American accent for the film, the scenes certainly do evoke thoughts of 007. As No Way Home very much feels like an ending to Holland's run as Spider-Man, there's likely more room in his schedule over the next few years to explore roles outside of the MCU, and it seems like James Bond could be one of them.
