Superman & Lois is finally heading to UK screens this December, almost a year after its American broadcast. The CW’s newest addition to the Arrowverse shows follows the adventures of Tyler Hoechlin’s Clark Kent (as introduced in Supergirl season 2) as he comes to terms with raising his own family in Smallville with Lois Lane. The series debuted in the US in February 2021, with fans praising the show’s more cinematic approach and higher-budget visuals compared to it’s fellow DC TV series. Season 1 was a big success and Superman & Lois season 2 is already on its way to the US in January, taking the time slot left by the final season of Supergirl.
Now, almost a year after it’s premiere at home, Superman & Lois is heading to UK audiences. Fans of DC comics in the United Kingdom have been waiting a long time to catch up on the popular new series, with little to no news until now about an international broadcast. SFX Magazine reports that Superman & Lois is heading to the unlikely home of BBC One next month, with a prime time slot on Saturday evenings starting on December 4.
The move is a welcome surprise, as the BBC is not the usual home of comic book TV in the UK. Other shows from Arrow to Legends Of Tomorrow have been broadcast on Sky One since 2012, with the only other exception being the more recent Batwoman, which airs on the young-adult-centred E4. The move is good news for the BBC too, as Superman & Lois takes a prime weekend TV slot that has been previously occupied by some of UK television’s biggest shows.
