Spider-Man Learns The Multiverse Is Real In No Way Home TV Spot

Spider-Man learns the multiverse is real in the latest Spider-Man: No Way Home TV spot. Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is still in its early stages, but one of the points of emphasis for Marvel Studios has been establishing the multiverse. Loki did the heavy lifting of setting up the idea of variants and other realities, while Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has long been known to be a movie where it'll take center stage. However, Spider-Man: No Way Home is also set to heavily incorporate the multiverse in its story.

The term multiverse was previously mentioned in Spider-Man: Far From Home, as Mysterio's lies about his past were tied to the idea he came from another world. While this turned out to be incorrect, the multiverse will create brand new problems for Peter Parker in Spider-Man: No Way Home. This comes after Peter messes up a Doctor Strange spell to make everyone forget that Peter is Spider-Man. One of the unforeseen consequences of this will be villains from across the multiverse coming to the main MCU timeline and going after Tom Holland's hero because they're all destined to die at Spider-Man's hand in their original universe.

Spider-Man: No Way Home's use of the multiverse has been heavily featured in the marketing to this point. The latest TV spot from Sony, though, includes the moment where Spider-Man learns that the multiverse is real. Peter is shown in the basement of the Sanctum Sanctorum with Doctor Strange, who explains to Spider-Man that the villains he's just met are from other universes. Check it out in the Spider-Man: No Way Home TV spot below.

Based on Peter Parker's clothing, this meeting with Doctor Strange and him learning the multiverse is real appears to come after his first encounter with Doctor Octopus (Alfred Molina) and Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe). Peter is wearing the same suit that he does before putting on the Iron Spider suit to fight Doc Ock. This new footage pairs nicely with other recent Spider-Man: No Way Home TV spots, such as the one showing Doctor Octopus' confusion upon seeing the MCU's Peter Parker's face. What remains to be seen is if Peter learns of the multiverse's existence after he defeats these villains on his own, with the help of Doctor Strange, or fails to do so initially.

Now that more footage of Spider-Man: No Way Home continues to make its way online, Marvel Studios and Sony are so far doing a decent job balancing recycling previously used footage and slipping in new glimpses, like Jameson reacting to Lizard. There is an undeniably high level of interest in the movie already, so they could get by without revealing too much more. Hopefully, this continues as Spider-Man: No Way Home's release date draws closer.
