In The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, players can obtain unique abilities called Dragon Shouts. There are 27 powerful shouts, each with their own special skill. In order to unlock shouts in Skyrim, players will need to complete an early main mission, then collect dragon souls to unlock Words of Power. Each Dragon Shout in Skyrim requires players to locate and unlock three specific Words of Power.
Players can get the locations of the Words of Power by completing "The Horn of Jurgen Windcaller." This mission can be obtained in Whiterun at High Hrothgar from Arngeir. During the mission, players will find their first Word of Power for Skyrim's Become Ethereal Dragon Shout. Once this mission concludes, as long as players haven't already slain the dragon Paarthurnax, the locations of the Words of Power can be obtained.
To get the Words of Power locations, players will need to choose the "Have you located any Words of Power?" dialogue option when speaking to Arngeir. Once "The Horn of Jurgen Windcaller" is completed, players will be able to find Words of Power while free-roaming. Each Word of Power will require a Dragon Soul to unlock. Because it is not possible to beat Skyrim without Dragon Shouts, players will want to take the time to unlock them all.
Skyrim has 27 Dragon Shouts, each requiring three Words of Power to unlock. Players will automatically unlock 15 of the Words through main missions, but the other 44 will require Dragon Souls, which are obtained by killing a dragon. Souls will immediately be absorbed by the player once a dragon is slain. The Words can still be collected without Dragon Souls, but they won't be unlocked until a soul is used. Each Word is in a different location and unlocks a specific shout.

Unlocking every Dragon Shout in Skyrim requires a lot of exploration and a large number of dragon souls. Dragons will randomly spawn in the overworld for players to kill and absorb their souls. Obtaining all three words for each shout requires players to venture into caves and tombs as well as complete specific quests. Dragon Shouts are one of the many unlockable skills for players to obtain in Skyrim.
Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is available for Xbox 360, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
