A new trailer has revealed that Mew and Jirachi will be available in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, but only to those who have specific save data on their Nintendo Switch. Mew and Jirachi are Mythical Pokémon, which is the designation given to Legendary Pokémon that cannot be acquired through normal means and is usually distributed through a special event.
Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl will feature Legendary Pokémon as part of its story, as the Lake Trio and the Creation Trio are involved with Team Galactic's plot. It has been revealed that the game will add a new location, called Ramanas Park, which will add version exclusive Legendary Pokémon to the game. These include Ho-oh and the Legendary Beasts appearing in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond, and Lugia and the Legendary Beasts appearing in Pokémon Shining Pearl.
The new trailer for Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl that has been uploaded to The Official Pokémon YouTube Channel also revealed that some Mythical Pokémon will be available as save bonuses for other games. This information was technically revealed as part of the Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl leaks, but it has now been confirmed by The Pokémon Company.
In order to acquire Mew or Jirachi in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, the player will need save data from a specific game on their Nintendo Switch. There is a man and a woman standing in the fields south of Floaroma Town in the Sinnoh region that possess the Mythical Pokémon. In order to receive Mew, the player needs to have save data from either Pokémon: Let's Go Pikachu or Eevee on their system, and then speak to the woman. In order to receive Jirachi, the player needs to have save data from either Pokémon Sword or Shield on their system, and then speak to the man.
Players who don't want to purchase a whole new game just for one or two Mythical Pokémon needn't worry. So long as the player knows someone with a physical copy of either Pokémon Sword and Shield or Pokémon: Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee, then they are good to go. It doesn't matter where the save happens, so long as it exists. If the player can borrow a copy and play it until they hit the first opportunity to save, then they should be able to catch Mew or Jirachi.
Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl will be available for Nintendo Switch on November 19, 2021.
