Genshin Impact 2.4 Beta Test: Biggest Leaks Explained

The Version 2.4 update of Genshin Impact is still many weeks away, but the Genshin Impact 2.4 beta test is live now. As usual, datamining efforts from the beta test have caused several leaks to start appearing online. For those eager to see what kind of content to expect, the next update allegedly sees the return of some fan-favorite events, new characters, and a new region.

Genshin Impact 2.3 launched earlier this week, so it may seem odd for 2.4 content to already be surfacing online. Developer miHoYo releases major version updates every six weeks, so Version 2.4 won't arrive until early January. Still, for anyone used to the way miHoYo typically releases things, the beta tests for upcoming versions debut around the same time as new updates. So, while 2.3 is still new in-game, a lot of fans' attention has already turned toward what to expect next thanks to the Genshin Impact 2.4 beta.

As with previous Genshin Impact beta tests, users selected to participate had to sign NDAs (Non-Disclosure Agreements). However, this hasn't stopped fans from datamining and leaking content early. As miHoYo has started to crack down on leakers, this hasn't completely stopped leaks from Genshin Impact 2.4 from surfacing. For anyone interested, here are the biggest leaks from the Genshin Impact 2.4 beta test so far.

Enkanomiya has already been mentioned in-game, including in the quests "The Moon-Bathed Depths" and "Heart of Watasumi." The entrance to the new region in Genshin Impact can be found near Sangonomiya Shrine, offering players a glimpse of it already. Since Enkanomiya was leaked from the Genshin Impact 2.4 beta, several prominent leakers in the community have verified additional information about it.

According to Project Celestia, for example, Enkanomiya will have an alternating time cycle. This will be between Evernight and Whitenight and will provide different environments in the new region. There are also an expected nine new subareas for players to explore. The Inazuma updates for Genshin Impact has provided several new and strange areas over the past few months, so it will be interesting to see what unique things Enkanomiya has to offer if it arrives in Version 2.4.

Leaks from the Genshin Impact 2.4 beta also point toward new Hangout Events. Thus far, only a few characters have gotten Hangout Events, but these have proven to be quite popular. The Genshin Impact 2.4 leaks point toward Ninggunag and Yun Jin getting their own Hangouts. This is especially exciting because Yun Jin is a new playable character expected to arrive in Version 2.4.

Leaks for Yun Jin in Genshin Impact stretch back to last year when the then-unnamed character was a part of character datamining efforts. Since then, leakers had suggested her name was Yunjin, before miHoYo officially confirmed Yun Jin earlier this month. Hangout Events provide extra time for players to spend with characters they may not have gotten to know otherwise, so new Hangouts in Genshin Impact 2.4 are definitely a welcome addition.

Recently, both Yun Jin and Shenhe were officially confirmed as playable characters. While Yun Jin is allegedly getting her own Hangout Event, the Genshin Impact 2.4 leaks say Shenhe will get a character Story Quest instead. Shenhe is a new Cryo user and polearm wielder, and based on her information, she's expected to be a 5-star character when she arrives.

Thus far, miHoYo hasn't given either Yun Jin or Shenhe a release date, but it's all but confirmed they'll be arriving in Genshin Impact 2.4. Both will be joining a steadily rising roster of polearm characters, and Shenhe may be the more powerful of the two. Few details have surfaced over what players can expect in Shenhe's Story Quest, but it should be nice getting to spend extra time with such a new character.

Last year's Lantern Rite Festival in Genshin Impact was important for Xiao, too. The Lantern Rite event is based around the Chinese New Year, which would coincide with Genshin Impact 2.4's content - stretching well into February 2022. If this is true, then players may be able to earn a free character through the event, along with other great rewards like Mora, EXP Books, and Primogems.

Fans have been expecting a Banner rerun for Xaio and Ganyu, and the Lantern Rite's return in Genshin Impact 2.4 could support this theory that both 5-star characters will appear as Banner reruns in the next update. Now that miHoYo is running 5-star character Banners consecutively, it seems increasingly likely that both Ganyu and Xiao will get their own soon. Given the Lantern Rite leaks, Xiao seems the most likely to get a rerun - if only one of them does.

The Windtrace Event in Genshin Impact proved to be popular as well when it debuted, so a rerun makes a lot of sense. This PvP mini-game was essentially hide-and-seek, and it gave out useful rewards like Primogems and Mora. Interestingly enough, the Windtrace event seems to be in seven new locations for Genshin Impact 2.4: four locations in Inazuma, two in Liyue, and one in Mondstadt. While it may seem a bit early for Windtrace to run again, these extra locations should be a nice way to keep the event feeling fresh and exciting.

So far, much of this information regarding Genshin Impact 2.4 beta leaks has not been officially confirmed by miHoYo. Typically, these events and new content will only premiere officially during one of the Genshin Impact Special Program livestreams, so it may be several weeks before fans can know for sure if the new region, events, and characters will be arriving as part of the Genshin Impact 2.4 update. However, leakers have a pretty good track record with the game, and the 2.4 beta is currently underway, so it seems highly probable that most or all of these leaks are accurate.
