Arya Stark's Kill List Is About To Get A Lot Weirder

The upcoming Warner Bros. crossover fighting game MultiVersus features characters from some of the most family-friendly franchises of all time, but it also features Arya Stark from Game of Thrones. Arya, played by Maisie Williams in the HBO series, was an assassin who brutally murdered an entire family. She kept a list of those she intended to kill, and it's about to get a lot weirder. The trailer for MultiVersus features Batman, Shaggy from Scooby-Doo, and countless other characters, meaning Arya will be fighting enemies way different to those she encountered on Game of Thrones.

[Major spoilers for Game of Thrones follow.]

Arya's list was a selection of names that she repeated to herself, with those who wronged her or House Stark being added. By the end of the series, all of the names on the list were accounted for, with the exception of Illyn Payne (the man who executed her father), as he was written out of the show, due to the actor's real-life illness forcing him to leave. Arya wasn't responsible for the deaths of everyone on her list, as the Hound and the Mountain killed each other, Cersei was crushed in the destruction of the Red Keep, Twywin was murdered by Tyrion, and Joffrey was poisoned on Olenna. Arya managed to off Walder Frey (and most of his family), Rorge, Polliver, and Meryn Trant, so she still managed to act out a lot of her plans for revenge.

Game of Thrones is licensed by WarnerMedia, which is why content from the series appeared in Space Jam: A New Legacy. This means characters from the show can appear in MultiVersus, and it's unlikely that Arya will be the last one. One interesting aspect of her inclusion is that MultiVersus can do a funny take on her infamous list.

MultiVersus bears a strong resemblance to the games in the Super Smash Bros. series. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has taunts for each character, with some characters even having unique animations on their win screen, such as Joker from Persona 5 continuing to run, or Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII walking through flames. One funny easter egg that the developers could add to MultiVersus is to have Arya recite her list as a taunt or on the win screen. This means it can include the characters from MultiVersus, rather than her enemies from Game of Thrones. Names like Cersei, Joffrey, and the Hound will need to be replaced with Batman, Shaggy, Steven Universe, Tom, Jerry, Finn the Human, Superman, and even Bugs Bunny.

The official MultiVersus social media accounts have confirmed that Maisie Williams is reprising the role of Arya for the game, which means Game of Thrones fans could have an authentic list for the game. The ending of Game of Thrones might have been a disappointment to many people, but fans can now head-canon that Arya sailed into another dimension, and is adding some iconic names to her list.
