ACNH Player Turns Isabelle's Vacation Home Into New Leaf's Town Hall

A mischievous Animal Crossing: New Horizons player decided to model Isabelle’s vacation property after Animal Crossing: New Leaf’s Town Hall, turning the character's home away from home into another place of work. Animal Crossing's fan-favorite dog Isabelle made her first appearance in 2012's New Leaf on the Nintendo 3DS, acting as the player character’s secretary, assisting them with their duties as the town’s new mayor.

Animal Crossing received its highly-anticipated 2.0 update in early November, which provided its players with a large content release that also marked the end of New Horizons’ free updates. The new update brought over 9,000 new items to New Horizons according to a datamine, and also brought back highly requested characters such as Kapp’n and Brewster, along with Brewster’s café, The Roost. Shortly after the free base game update launched, ACNH's first and only paid DLC also released, titled Animal Crossing - Happy Home Paradise, which allows players to put their creative skills to the test and design vacation homes for various Animal Crossing characters. The DLC adds a range of new features and items for decorators, and has helped bring even more creative design ideas to life.

Reddit user crome66 shared some screenshots of their Happy Home Paradise design, in which they turned Isabelle’s vacation home into a recreation of the Town Hall from Animal Crossing: New Leaf. The Redditor’s build is an incredibly faithful recreation of Isabelle’s old workplace, featuring a room filled with mahogany furniture, a counter in the front for Isabelle, as well as a desk and a leather chair situated behind Isabelle for the player character, who acts as the town’s mayor in New Leaf. In crome66’s screenshots, Isabelle can be seen sitting behind the counter, hard at work on the typewriter, with a cheerful smile on her face despite the fact that she’s spending her hard-earned vacation time at work.

Thanks to the release of the Happy Home Paradise DLC, fans have been able to bring beloved places from older series titles to New Horizons, with one player recently recreating the original Animal Crossing Nook’s Cranny from the GameCube game, Animal Crossing. Redditors were torn between being dismayed at Isabelle’s predicament of being back to work, and feeling nostalgic at crome66’s faithful recreation of the New Leaf building. One user joked that this design must be Isabelle’s work-from-home setup.

crome66’s recreation of New Leaf’s Town Hall in New Horizons certainly brings some nostalgia for long-time Animal Crossing fans, albeit at the cost of Isabelle’s well-deserved time off. However, Isabelle’s cheerful demeanor while in her new vacation home could suggest she might not mind the extra work. While the 2.0 update and Happy Home Paradise DLC have given players even more options for their creative endeavors in the game, a recent leak suggests New Horizons may receive holiday items in an upcoming update, which could make for even more creative builds in the near future.
