World of Horror Dev Posts Screenshots After Almost a Year of Silence

After almost a year of silence, the developer of World of Horror has offered fans an update by way of new screenshot reveals. The horror, which released in Early Access last year, is a video game inspired by Junji Ito with a 1-bit style, gruesome imagery, and black and white visuals.

Developed by solo developer panstasz and published by Ysbryd Games, World of Horror has been a must-play for lots of gamers due to the inspirations behind it. The works of Junji Ito, a world-renowned Japanese horror mangaka known for his terrifying and skin-crawling stories and artwork, has been a heavy influence on the game, seen in its art style and narrative beats. Players have been eagerly awaiting more news on World of Horror, including details on when it might release in full, but the developer has stayed reasonably quiet on the matter. The game also features Lovecraftian elements, making it a must-play for lots of horror fans.

After nearly a year of silence, panstasz has updated World of Horror fans with a series of new screenshots while also promising "good news soon." The four images give another look at the game's turn-based mechanics, narrative decisions, enemy design, and story, though what they mean for the game's development is unclear. Teased by panstasz in color, the screenshots have already drawn a lot of excitement from the game's community due to their surprise release.

The four new horror game screenshots suggest that the developer's good news could mean a new game update is on the way. The tweet is the first from the creator in 10 months, and as the game was initially targeting a late 2020 release, many had begun fearing that World of Horror would never see an update again. Whatever is coming, it looks like panstasz hasn't been so quiet behind the scenes after all.

Unfortunately for World of Horror fans, there's still no word on when the game will leave Early Access for its full launch. The Early Access version of World of Horror is a fairly substantial one, offering over 200 encounterable events and 12 mysteries to solve, but those who've been playing since 2020 are still holding out for new content. With gamers gearing up for Halloween, it's hoped that panstasz' next update for fans will offer new details and more content for World of Horror just in time for the spooky season.
