More eyes are on Mia Thornton's husband Gordon Thornton after he showed a new side of himself during The Real Housewives of Potomac couples trip. Gordon stood out among the husbands who attended the trip Wendy Osefo planned for the group. Aside from Mia's salad tossing fight with Candiace Dillard, her marriage with Gordon stuck out like a sore thumb. Viewers are now interested in learning more about Mia and Gordon's relationship dynamics.
Mia has been the talk of the town since making her show debut. Her countless showdowns and interesting personal life have made her the perfect replacement for alum Monique Samuels. Mia has been transparent about her scarred relationship with her mother, who lost custody of her as a child due to her drug use. Now, as an adult and mother of two, Mia is working to repair their relationship while building new friendships with the housewives. But Candiace Dillard's jabs about Mia's mom rubbed the cast and viewers the wrong way. Another person who took viewers aback was Mia's husband Gordon. His often inappropriate drunk behavior was called out by the other couples while Mia attempted to downplay Gordon's actions.
Mia and Gordon have been married for nine years and are parents to their son Jeremiah and daughter Juju. They met while Mia was working at a high-end strip club, though she claimed they were first connected by working on the same board for a non-profit organization. Mia and Gordon also come with blended families and Mia loves being a mother and grandmother to his offspring. "Gordon is 32 years older than I and we do have grandbabies," Mia told E! News. "We have four beautiful grandbabies. Two are adults moving into the college world, and two are in grade school." Some of the Housewives have criticized how Mia and Gordon met and claim Mia only acquired her wealth and CEO roles thanks to her older husband. The 36-year-old boasts her "boss" persona on social media, but being married to a 69-year-old businessman from North Carolina has its perks.
As the owner of a few McDonalds franchises, Massage Envy locations, and The Joint Chiropractic franchise he runs with his wife, Mia isn't lying when she brags about Gordon running multiple businesses. Gordon has shared his pride in running his chiropractic office. "I’ve seen what chiropractic care did for my wife – it’s helped her treat her pain issues holistically and effectively," he told the Joint Franchise. "It’s hard not to be passionate about owning a business that makes this big of an impact on people’s lives. It’s also far easier to run than other businesses I’ve owned – McDonald’s was very hard to operate and even Massage Envy was a lot harder.” Ahead of the shocking couple's trip airing, Mia and Gordon celebrated Gordon's 69th birthday. Mia celebrated her husband on Instagram in a series of posts. One showed the couple enjoying dinner and the other showed Gordon enjoying a yacht party with his guy friends.
It's clear that Mia and Gordon love each other, but their dynamic is still up for debate after seeing how Gordon spoke to Mia during the couple's trip. After putting Mia on speakerphone to reveal the G Wagon he just purchased for her, he then told his wife to "shut the fu*k up" in front of the other couples. While Gordon was clearly tipsy at that point, his behavior still begged the question of how he speaks to her behind closed doors. Mia stood by her husband and didn't allow Candiace's jabs to affect her. Despite the drama, Mia and Gordon appear ready to handle all the heat coming their way on The Real Housewives of Potomac.
