Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl Adds Dash Dancing Feature From Smash Bros.

A new update has introduced a highly requested gameplay feature to Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl. The Dash Dancing ability, made famous by Nintendo's Super Smash Bros., is now available within the recently-released Nickelodeon fighter, making the game even more similar to Smash Bros.

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is a nostalgia-fuelled fighting game starring some of the kids' channels' biggest and most popular characters. Alongside the channels' most famous heroes such as SpongeBob SquarePants and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the release goes even further by adding classic Nicktoons characters as well as those who don't often get time in the spotlight. Nigel Thornberry, Aang, Korra, Zim, Danny Phantom, Powdered Toast Man, and Lucy Loud are just a few of the familiar faces rounding out the game's roster, giving fans the chance to master their favorite character's skills and pit classic Nick characters against each other. With DLC planned for the future, even more Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl characters will soon be on the way

In the patch notes for Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl's latest PC update, developer Ludosity has confirmed that Dash Dancing is now available in the game (via TheGamer). Thanks to the update, players will now be able to make use of the pro gaming technique which sees characters repeatedly and quickly dash right and left over a short distance, giving the appearance of dancing. The move can help confuse opponents, with the rapid movements making it hard for them to predict players' next attack. The developer explains of the initially missing feature:

"Dashdancing was a highly requested feature that almost made it into the initial release, but the tradeoff of dash attacks made it too overbearing & the time constraints put the feature on the backburner. Now that there’s a dedicated cooldown period for dash attacking out of dashdance specifically, the feature is ready to run."

Those looking to implement the new Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl Dash Dance into their fighting strategy will need to run quickly in one direction before immediately switching to running in the opposite direction. If performed correctly, this will start a 15 frame warmup before a dash attack can be input. From the 16th frame, dash attack conditions will return to normal. The move should help make attack strategies more advanced, and will likely be a regular move for pro players.

Professional gamers have been asking for the Dash Dance feature to be added to Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl since the game released earlier this month. While many pro players have already started playing the game competitively, it's received criticism for not being as deeply strategic or as challenging as Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, with its overall features generally lacking in comparison. The addition of the Dash Dance hopefully means that the developer is not only listening to its fans, but also has an interest in making Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl as professionally competitive as possible.
