Killing Eve Season 4 Begins Filming With New Video | Screen Rant

Over a year after the Killing Eve season 3 finale aired, BBC America has confirmed that filming for season 4 is finally underway. The British spy thriller series first premiered in April 2018 and has gained an ever-increasing cult following over the last couple of years. The television network recently announced that season 4 is set to be the final season of the show and will premiere sometime in 2022 with eight episodes. The series has received critical acclaim throughout its three-season run so far and garnered multiple major accolades, including a Golden Globe award for Best Actress for Sandra Oh and a Primetime Emmy Award for Best Actress for Jodie Comer.

The show is based on the Villanelle novel series by Luke Jennings and stars Grey's Anatomy alumni Oh and rising star Comer (Free Guy, The Last Duel) as the two lead characters. They are supported by Fiona Shaw (Harry Potter), Kim Bodnia, and Owen McDonnell. The story revolves around a British intelligence agent named Eve Polastri (Sandra Oh), who takes on the daunting task of capturing the psychopathic assassin named Villanelle (Comer). Throughout the first three seasons, the pair regularly find themselves in a gripping cat-and-mouse chase that is staged all across Europe, during which they develop a mutual but dangerous obsession with one another.

The official Killing Eve Twitter page posted a short teaser clip to show that production on the final season 4 has commenced. Viewers are offered just a tiny glimpse of the behind-the-scenes process, which show a clapboard, followed by Comer herself in front of the camera shooting a scene. Lastly, the clip shows a small crowd of extras filming in London. There were no further details given out apart from the post's caption, which read, "Our lips are sealed. Mostly," which suggests that plot details for the new season 4 will not be revealed anytime soon. You can check out the video below:

The announcement will no doubt be a relief for many fans around the world who have been patiently waiting for any updates following the show's lengthy hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Season 3 finale of Killing Eve left the two protagonists' futures hanging in the balance with them admitting that even though they bring out the worst in each other, they are drawn together. The pair then decide to walk away from one another and go their separate ways but right before the credits roll, Eve and Villanelle turn around and look back at each other. The final shot ended with a sense of ambiguity as to what happens next with their relationship, but now it seems fans won't have to wait long to witness the conclusion.

The production company behind Killing Eve, AMC Networks, recently confirmed that spin-offs based in the espionage world are in development. However, it is unclear whether primary characters from the show like Villanelle and Eve will return. Perhaps that depends on the fate of the two charismatic leads at the end of season 4. If the first three seasons have indicated anything, it's that audiences should expect plenty more twists and turns in what could be yet another unpredictable and twisted set of events to the finish line.
