Endgame Set Photos Give New Look At Iron Man & Captain America Scene

New Avengers: Endgame set images reveal a new look at one of the most important moments between Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) and Captain America (Chris Evans) in the film. As the co-leaders of the Avengers, it was always important for the pair to work side-by-side together. However, that wasn't the case in Avengers: Infinity War as the heroes remained separated on the heels of their fallout in Captain America: Civil War.

Tony Stark and Steve Rogers are fundamentally different people; one is a futurist, the other a man out of time. Their relationship in the MCU is arguably among the most interesting, and the characters often clashed. Nonetheless, despite their disagreements, they were always able to find a middle ground and work together. Unfortunately for the universe, it took them a little more time to set aside their differences after Tony discovered that Steve lied about Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) killing his parents. Since the Infinity Saga has wrapped up, there has been much discussion among fans about the chances of the Avengers defeating Thanos in Infinity War if the team wasn't split up due to this ongoing conflict. The events of Endgame supported this, as the heroes were eventually able to take down the Mad Titan once and for all when they were able to once again work together.

Now, the Instagram account On Set. Unseen has released new images of a pivotal Iron Man and Captain America moment from Endgame. While patching things up at the Avengers HQ was definitely important, their decision to jump further back to the 1970s is arguably more representative of their relationship. The moment highlights that, at the end of the day, Stark and Cap trusted each other. The new snaps show Downey and Evans in the middle of filming the aforementioned sequence. Check out some of the images below:

Endgame marked the end of both Tony and Steve's MCU journeys, although their respective final fates couldn't be any more different. Iron Man decided to sacrifice himself by wielding the power of the Infinity Stones to defeat Thanos. His death meant that Earth could thrive moving forward. Meanwhile, Captain America got his much-deserved retirement. After returning all of the gems to their respective origins, Steve went further back in time to reunite with Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell), and only returned to the main MCU timeline to personally hand over the Captain America shield to Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie).

As Marvel Studios further explore the multiverse after the events of Avengers: Endgame, bringing Tony and Steve back is now possible without undermining their stories in the Sacred Timeline. That doesn't mean that this is something that will happen in the immediate future, however. Granted that they both appeared in Marvel's What If...?, but fans shouldn't expect either of them to pop up in any movie or TV show from the main MCU reality. Ultimately, this would be a wise move from Marvel, so as not to cheapen the heroes well-executed character arcs.
