Actress Blake Lively poked fun at husband Ryan Reynolds' acting break announcement in hilarious fashion. Reynolds, the star of the Deadpool franchise and Free Guy, as well as a mountain of past and upcoming projects, recently announced on social media that he would be taking a brief sabbatical from his craft. Reynolds' next film, Red Notice, a team-up action movie with Dwayne Johnson and Gal Gadot, releases on Netflix in November. Next year will see the release of two more Reynolds' films, The Adam Project and Spirited, with multiple other films in the works to follow. However, the actor will be taking a little break between the completion of Spirited and whichever film comes next.
Reynolds and Blake Lively starred in the 2011 superhero movie Green Lantern together, and would later marry in 2012. Lively is best known for her work in the hit show Gossip Girl, as well as The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants films, the thriller The Shallows, and A Simple Favor. The Hollywood couple have three children together and maintain a fairly private life, but provide a peek at their personal lives from time to time, even if it's just to poke a little fun at each other.
Lively posted a comment on Reynolds' post announced his planned break, which coincided with the recent (and now debunked) news that Michael Caine would be retiring from acting. In the Instagram post, Reynolds calls it a wrap on the comedy Spirited, which he co-stars in with Will Ferrell, and says its the "perfect time for a little sabbatical from movie making." The post has a number of nice comments following his announcement, including one from actress Octavia Spencer, but Lively takes it up a notch with some signature Reynolds/Lively humor. She replied in the comments saying, "Michael Caine did it first," as a humorous shot at her better half.
Lively is preparing to star in the new Edward Zwick/Marshall Herskovitz romantic comedy The Making Of with Richard Gere, Lin Manuel Miranda and Diane Keaton. She will also appear in the dramatic thriller The Husband's Secret. Reynolds still has a number of projects on his docket, including the comedy Everyday Parenting Tips, a new adaptation of the game Clue, and of course, another round as his iconic, foul-mouthed Marvel character in Deadpool 3. Reynolds and Lively are also active in charity work, donating to various causes, including Feeding America and Food Banks Canada. In addition, Reynolds' recently bought the Wrexham A.F.C., a Welsh Football Club with It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia's Rob McElhenney and continues to be a part of his wireless company, Mint Mobile.
While most celebrity couples maintain a very private persona, more and more some of them are stepping into each other's social media to provide some funny and interesting interactions that can make for a good laugh. Reynolds has a signature blend of humor that has always been a part of his mass appeal, and it's always fun to see Lively match him at his own game. Reynolds has a playful nature that engages and entertains his fans, which is evident from his "feud" with Hugh Jackman, his funny ads for Mint Mobile and Match.com (produced by his company Maximum Effort), or just taking a funny jab from Blake Lively on social media, making them a fun couple to follow in the least.
