Batwoman Star Camrus Johnson Responds To Ruby Rose’s Allegations

Camrus Johnson tweets his response to Ruby Rose's allegations about the poor working conditions and abuse she experienced on the set of The CW’s Batwoman. The actor plays Luke Fox on the DC comics show and has been a principal character since episode 1. The son of Batman’s tech-expert friend, Lucius Fox, Luke acts as a vital member of Kate Kane’s team in the Batcave, before later taking on an alter ego of his own as Batwing in season 2.

Rose, who starred in the lead role in Batwoman season 1, left the show not long after the season finale and was later written out and replaced by Javicia Leslie's new Batwoman, Ryan Wilder. In a lengthy social media post yesterday, Rose made several allegations against Warner Bros. producers, cast, and crew members, detailing severe injuries she suffered on set and claiming other stuntpeople were seriously hurt. She identified co-star Dougray Scott as verbally abusive and called Johnson an “egomaniac kid,” recalling his callousness towards her following her injury-related surgery.

Now, via Twitter, Johnson voices his response to Rose’s claims. In a three-tweet thread, the actor states that his former co-star was “fired” from Batwoman and that it’s “VERY hard to be fired when you’re the lead,” referring to previous rumors of the actor being difficult to work with. He goes on to refute her allegations by saying “a lot of lies were spread today,” before reiterating his support for the show and its fans. Then, in one last message, Johnson reminds viewers to watch the upcoming new episode of Batwoman season 3. Check out Johnson's thread below:

Johnson is not the first to respond to Rose’s Batwoman claims. Scott recently refuted her allegations that he was abusive to women on set as defamatory, while WB TV stated that she was fired from the show for “multiple complaints about workplace behaviour.” Many actors still associated with the show seem to be taking the side of the producers, though one person who voiced their support for Rose was Ray Fisher, the Justice League actor who has made similar complains about the studio.

The verbal battle between Batwoman’s producers and its former star continues, as more individuals will likely come out to present their side of the story. While Johnson and Scott both deny any impropriety, Rose’s detailed injury x-rays, claims of blackmail, and accusations of severely dangerous working conditions remain difficult to overlook. Many of the named producers are yet to issue their responses and the fallout of the actor's comments remains unclear, but as the dust settles, Batwoman season 3 will continue to air weekly on The CW.
